Train Your Feet
As someone with a history of ankle sprains and plantar fasciitis, I’ve learned the hard way that it is important. Ill fitting shoes can cause deformation of feet over time.
Are you able to lift your big toe up without the other ones lifting and vice versa? Happy feet = happy knees and hips. This drill helps improve toe splay and neurological control of the foot/ankle complex.
Strengthen Your Feet
This is a great drill to strengthen your feet and help with alignment of your toes.
Wrap a band around your big toes to pull them inwards a little bit while spreading all the other toes as much as possible. Exercise 1: Lift the big toes while pressing the tips of all the other toes down. Exercise 2: Push the big toes down and lift all the other toes up maintaining a wide spread.
It’s important that your support system is strong and aligned to allow for proper functioning and mechanics up the chain (knees, hips, etc.)!
